Half Full or Half Empty and Astrology Forecast December 17-23

by Leo Knighton Tallarico

The man-made border between years, this transition time between 2017 and 2018, is fast approaching.

I say man-made because nature was not “consulted” in picking January 1 as the beginning of a new year.

In some other countries the first day of spring is considered the beginning of the new year. And of course Spring does feel like new vital energies erupting, like a new beginning.  And the sign that begins every spring is Aries, an obvious generator of new starts.

I think that says much about our culture and its lack of respect for nature, for natural cycles and seasons.

We all too often lead our lives based on what we are expected to do, what we should do, what we desire to do, what the rules or conventional culture “tells” us to do.

In contrast, Astrology is part of nature, of natural cycles and seasons, part of the grand movements of our solar system and Universe.

And this week, which will lead to the holiday season, shows us a turning of tides, a shifting of natural energies.

We are awakened from our collective nap at the New Moon in Sagittarius on December 18 at 1:30 AM EST.

Then on December 21 we enter Winter Solstice at 11:28 AM EST. That same day, there is a very rare occasion- Saturn will be conjunct that Winter Solstice point.

Then on December 22, the much awaited Direct movement of Mercury occurs at 8:51 PM EST.

During Mercury Retrograde many shifted their thinking or questioned their previous decisions and chosen directions.

Now after Mercury goes back Direct, and giving it a week or so to go back to normal speed, you will be able to assess if that change of mind sticks or if you need to go back to what was originally chosen.

For some, people and/or memories floated back into their consciousness or life, giving  another perspective on issues in our life.

After Mercury goes back Direct, the fog will begin to lift, clarity will begin to appear.

However, around the day that Mercury actually goes back Direct, it can be especially confusing or disorienting. Let the process play out before jumping to conclusions.

Mercury going Direct will feel like new beginnings, but so will the New Moon in Sagittarius.

The New Moon in Sagittarius on the 17th/18th is a fiery new moon.  Sagittarius is fire that moves where it is inspired to go.  People with a strong Sagittarius influence are free spirits , wanting to follow their intuition, their inspiration, their sense of adventure.

Their challenge is to not leap before they look, to not be too impulsive, to not be so cock sure their opinion is always right.

As we all experience the New Moon in Sagittarius, we will begin to feel joy and upliftment.

Yet to counter that upward spiral of spirit, we are still experiencing the downward spiral of darker and darker days on the way to Winter Solstice on the 21st.

So we may feel a bit torn between hope and optimism one minute, then sadness or negativity later.

Our glass of life is in the process of a changing perspective from half empty to half full.

As we get closer to the Winter Solstice on the 21st, the day is getting darker and darker.  Heavy Saturn goes into its “home” sign of Capricorn on the 19th, just two days before the Winter Solstice Sun in Capricorn on the 21st.

Then later that same day, Saturn in Capricorn conjuncts the Winter Solstice Sun in Capricorn.

That may bring some sadness, some feelings of depression, a negative outlook on life.

But if you stay present for the turn toward the light at 11:28 AM EST on the 21st, you may feel the subtle shift energetically toward more light  minutes of the day.  And the light keeps growing until Spring Equinox when light and dark become equal.

So as the light comes back, the Sun does not open to light as easily as it normally does on Winter Solstice. That is because of Saturn in Capricorn making conjunction with the Winter Solstice Sun.

Saturn stops the full expression of whatever it touches. It is gravity. It is the hand of time. It is rules and responsibilities.

We are still in the reach of the New Moon in Sagittarius, however, so we may be in a loop between manic and depressed, so to speak

Please do not let the situations in the world get you down or feeling hopeless.   Everything is in meaningful order.

We are undoubtedly feeling the cracking open of the concrete structure of the Military/Industrial complex.

Change is wanting to pour in through those cracks which are getting bigger and more plentiful all the time.

This splitting apart is causing huge divisions between cultures, religions, nations, genders, etc.

In America it is being felt as a big split between the left culture and the right culture. There is little thread between them to keep them together.

The yin/yang symbol of wholeness is splitting in two within the old Paradigm.

Get out of the Old Paradigm and its wars. Do not be so quick to choose sides.  In the New Paradigm all is connected, diverse but connected. There is no demonizing of those who are different than us.

There is a much stronger rope between the differences. The yin/yang symbol is whole. There is still black and white, male and female, yin and yang. But those opposites are part of a wholeness of Unity.

This is the Age of Aquarius with its Diversity within Unity.

So don’t see the good guys or girls versus the bad guys or girls. The enemy is not North Korea or Iran or China or Muslims.  The enemy is not white men or conservatives or Christians or people from red states, or on the contrary liberals or African Americans or LGBTQ peoples.

Do not be a part of the cracking concrete of the Old Paradigm of US Versus Them.

Yes stand up for what you believe is right, but don’t be part of a war against those who think differently.

Trust that everything is happening for a reason, that an old world is transitioning into a New World, the Age of Aquarius.

You don’t have to kill the members of the Old World, evolution happens naturally.

Quit thinking Trump all the time like the media does. Trump loves that much attention.  He is not the enemy.  What he represents is what we need to release on a very deep level of our collective consciousness

The MeToo revolution is so needed in our world now, but if it turns to men versus women it loses its way.

There is an old paradigm that believes that those in power and privilege can do what they want and can abuse that power and take whatever they want.

Men and women have both bought into that belief system. Are men predators and women prey?  Are men the perpetrators and women the victims?

What needs to be transformed is believing that is true. And so many men and women deeply believe that as they have been conditioned to believe.

We may have developed that as part of an old paradigm, but in nature it is not true, inherently it is not true.

But if you buy into it, it becomes true for you.

Mercury goes Direct on the 22nd at 8:51 PM EST. Feel the shift and feel the relief. It has been a very difficult Mercury Retrograde this time for many.

As it ends feel the gears in your mind beginning to shift back.   It is a good time to gather our senses, to bring our selves to sanity in this often insane world, and to make our better values our highest priority.

Till next week,

Leo
