As we have spoken many times, this year 2014 has largely been about closing old chapters of our lives and getting ready to embrace new ones.
The Cardinal Grand Cross earlier this year gave us the marking point for such powerful change in life.
The recent elections showed a desire for more conservative candidates by a large portion of the American electorate. I believe this is because the new chapter of our collective life in America is provoking needs for security and bringing up fear in many people.
Back in the late ’60s life was going through such powerful change with a war in Viet Nam, a sexual revolution, changing gender roles, an often violent civil rights movement, and in general a feeling of chaotic revolution and deep changes in how people live.
So who was elected president in 1968, at the height of the revolution? Richard Nixon was elected even though so many were wanting a new world that would be free of old rules that had chained people’s free hearts and minds to the jailhouse of a status quo System.
Opposed to this revolutionary movement was the silent majority, as it was called then. They needed to keep life as it had been. It was in grave fear that all the rules it counted on and lived by were rapidly being threatened to extinction. There was even more prejudice and hatred then for those who were of color or were different from the norm, like gays and lesbians. The silent majority wanted women to be kept in their place, for men to stay dominant, sex to be secretive and old fashioned, and war to protect the “American way of life”.
But then there was also burning of bras, and military draft cards torn up, and race riots in the streets of many cities, and marijuana being used to open minds to new ways of thinking and being. Rock music was defiantly opposed to the old ways. And the new generation of young people, for the first time maybe, were hostile to their parents and their parents’ values.
Yes back then we were in a very powerful time of change- into a new chapter of living in America and the world with the first glimmers of an Age of Aquarius. Yet at the same time many were getting more conservative in order to hold back the tides of change. And of course that is understandable as sometimes change is overwhelming.
Back then Uranus conjunct Pluto had been exact just two years prior, and its waves of change were still quite strong. Now in 2014, we are in the middle of Uranus square Pluto aspects and waves of change are quite strong again.
In Ferguson Missouri there have been riots to protest the killing of a young black man by police. Though we have made an African American man President of the United States there is still racial disharmony in America.
And now civil rights for gays and lesbians has been in the spotlight the last few years. And there is war in Iraq again and Syria and threats in Ukraine and a new powerful entity called the Islamic State. And the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians is a time bomb. And there is an Ebola virus that has brought great fear into the hearts of many.
And there is even more Corporate domination than ever before. Yet there is a sense felt by most tuned-in people that we are on the cusp of enormous change that will affect all of our lives.
So yes many are fearful and want the a dam to be built to hold back the waves of change. And the recent vote, as back when Nixon was elected, reflects that attitude.
Keep in mind, however, that not many years after that election in 1868, the war was ended and Nixon was impeached, and a whole new culture was born.
And now the great wave is here again to help us to continue in our evolution.
That evolution was put on hold after the ’60s and 70s as we needed more grounding and also to integrate new electronic advances that would be aligned with the Age of Aquarius.
There has since been a conservative revolution led by Ronald Reagan that brought some needed pull-back and grounding to our consciousness and lives. And then there was a most important internet and computer revolution that has changed all of our lives in a huge way.
And America has since become an Empire and Superpower, with the Military-Industrial complex that worried President Eisenhower more dominant than ever before.
Counter to that are people all over the world wanting freedom from Corporate and Military controls on their lives, wanting freedom from Governmental controls on their lives.
And much of the changes in the world this year since the Cardinal Grand Cross (which included Uranus and Pluto) is meant to begin to break the chains and bring us to new personal and collective chapters of our lives- on the road to the Age of Aquarius.
And now this week we begin to finish up Autumn Eclipse Season 2014, a season that is meant to help us end that old chapter of our lives and embrace more the new phase of our lives.
But now as we have moved through a potent Taurus/Scorpio Full Moon from this last week, we are largely facing endings and feeling sadness for days gone by. It is hard sometimes to let go of the past, even when we know it is time.
We install life-support systems in our minds and hearts, and hold on for dear life. Death of the old can bring up great fear in us, and we can go through the stages of dying in our minds, like denial and rage and trying to make a deal with God to change the inevitable.
This coming week brings a big turning point in our transformational journey this year. The eclipses from Autumn Eclipse season have passed, and Mercury is back direct again.
That last eclipse, a Solar Eclipse New Moon from October 23, began a lunar cycle that came to climax this past week with the Full Moon. Now this week begins a waning path through the last half of that lunar cycle. And then we move fast forward at the New Moon in Sagittarius on November 22.
So this week, as the lunar cycle begins the fading half of its journey, we encounter an important set of aspects: Mars this week conjuncts Pluto on November 10, and squares Uranus on November 12, effectively triggering the Uranus/Pluto square.
Then on November 13 Mars will trigger the exact point of the exact Cardinal Grand Cross from mid April of this year.
This in an important turning point week globally and personally, as we will be prompted to accept the reality of our lives now and to move on. Old issues will come back so we can finish what we started.
Globally the Ferguson racial issue may come to a head again as the Grand Jury there decides if the policeman who killed the young man will be indicted. The meetings between Iran and the Powers that Be of the world concerning Iran’s nuclear programs are coming to an end, and decisions will be made on how to resolve the standoff- or not resolve it. Other Middle East conflicts will be in the spotlight again, and already the Ukraine/Russian conflict has come back again as there are claims Russia has invaded Ukraine once more.
Personally and globally, any issues that have not been resolved or completed, are likely to come back up in our consciousness and lives again.
Do you stay on the path you have previously chosen or not? Can you truly go back? For most this turning point will help them to move on and to get off any fences of indecision they have been sitting on. It is time to complete what was started and to know more completely what direction to move in.
One thing to know for sure, you are right where you need to be now. All has happened for a reason and there is no need to blame your self or others for what has happened. It has been time to end old chapters and seasons and begin new ones, no matter who has done what. “Coulda, woulda, shoulda” ruminations do not matter except to help you to learn from your mistakes for the future.
We are moving into an Age of Aquarius, and that is a big new season in our future. The new chapter this year is to move us one step closer to that reality. And keep in mind that those who voted last week to hold the line on such powerful change reflect a very human desire to feel safe.
