We move into the last few weeks of summer now in the northern hemisphere. We come closer to the “sunset” time of year, the Autumn Equinox. It is Virgo time of year now, as always, during the last month of summer. Virgo is a mutable Earth sign. It is mutable as the changing transitional month from summer to autumn. Its earthy quality can be witnessed in the harvest at this time of year. We are slowly cooling down from our fiery days of playing in summer, and beginning to get back to school and business.
In our skies this week there is relative calmness, not too many big and important planetary movements. But there is a comet named Elenin moving to its closest angle to the Sun on September 10. We wonder what meaning this movement has on our human condition. We look for worldly events to help us understand Elenin’s message to us.
There is so much on this Comet on the internet. And there are two totally different sets of opinion about it. One is all doom and gloom and apocalyptic. The other talks only about a material object moving through the sky, and it poo-poos any talk about the comet’s movement being meaningful in any way.
This wide discrepancy between viewpoints shows us the state of our conventional world.
Modern conventional world science is all too often not about finding truth from deeper places, but about perpetuating its paradigm. This kind of “science” told us the world was flat many centuries ago.
And the apocalyptic soothsayers show us how misguided much of the spiritual/metaphysical/new age world can be.
Many years ago astronomers and astrologers were the same people. Galileo and Kepler are two such people. Back then there was a relationship between the mystical and the scientific. Scientists knew the “dots of the Universe” were all connected, that meaning could be found in the heavens, that there was truth in the axiom “as above so below”. Metaphysical people cared about truth, not just what makes you feel good or what scares you. They were concerned about souls and assisting our human condition on its evolutionary jouney.
Astrology and astronomy being separated is symbolic of the split between our hearts and minds. This split is not natural.
Our hearts need our minds as valued advisers who look for fact, logic and “reality”.
Our minds need our hearts as valued partners to keep us seeing and feeling more deeply into the soul and the mysteries of life.
The old world we are leaving shows us the splits between heart and mind, between male and female, between yin and yang, light and dark. The new world we are entering is about healing the separations, and transforming those old separations into a merging wholeness of unity.
So what is the meaning of the report this week that Comet Elenin may be splitting in two? Does it show us that Elenin is not going to be that meaningful after all? Or does it show us this split that exists in our old world, and how that split will greatly affect events here on Earth now?
Neither the naysayers who claim there is no meaning to Elenin, nor the “soothsayers” who say it is the end of the world are correct. Those disparate views are reflective of the split between heart and mind. There is meaning to the movement of Elenin, but we must find a “real” meaning to it.
It is most interesting that its movement is coinciding with the end of the Mayan Calendar according the Carl Johan Calleman. He has been saying for many years now that the calendar ends on October 28, 2011. Elenin, if it stays intact, will be at its closest movement to Earth on October 16.
The end of the Mayan Calendar is not the end of the world. It is a transition time between ages, an old world dying and a new world being born.
One thing that has been getting more and more obvious to me is that each person must now choose what world they belong to. I see more and more people in crisis all the time. It is a crisis between worlds.
We have been so conditioned to fit into the old world,as we have been taught our well-being is dependent on that. We have been given a set of rules to follow to keep us attached to that old world. If we break the rules we are in big trouble, like poverty or jail or hell or maybe just people won’t like us.
If we find a way to fit in we will be happy and successful we are told.
But more and more people are not happy with being in that paradigm anymore. They have no sense of meaning or purpose in it. They cannot express their true and authentic self. And now they may not have jobs or be able to pay the bills either.
And they know life in that old world is not kind to the Earth. They know there are needless and cruel wars being perpetrated for no real reason. They know our political system is totally dysfunctional and out of touch with the needs of the people. They see a world out of balance and disconnected from the natural.
But they fear truly living their lives authentically and meaningfully.
Now as we move more intensely between ages and worlds, there are more challenging events in our greater world and in our personal lives.
We must choose now what world we want to live in, what kind of person we want to be. Do not wait for how it all turns out. Do not sit in fear for what may or may not happen.
Choose: Do you live in a Universe of connections and meaning, of love and truth? Or not? Do you want to live your life in the Aquarian Age of equality, of Diversity in Unity? Or not? Do you want to contribute to our new world, which honors all peoples and wants to heal our human family and Earth? Or not?
It is time to make the changes if you want to be in this new world, as it is developing right now. If you have been putting off getting your self and life healthy and whole, time is slipping away. If you have been putting off changing your beliefs and attitudes, now is the time. If you have been putting off taking that meditation or yoga classs, take it now.
The comet is splitting and the glue that holds the old and new world together is splitting. Release the old, let it die. Embrace the new and let your self truly live. The Ages are changing and you can be the change you want to see.
