Energies of change are circulating much faster through our psyches and lives. This passing week we witnessed political earthquakes of change. There has been an uncommon amount of upsets in politics lately. There is a growing trend to vote in fresh new people to elected office. This new trend began on November 4 2008 when Barack Obama was elected president of the United States.
The election happened on the day of the first pass of Uranus opposite Saturn. Saturn is tradition, status quo, and conservative. John McCain clearly represented this planetary energy. Uranus is the Aquarian planet and represents breaking “outside the box” with radical change. Obama, our first presidential candidate with African American heritage, represented this Uranian planetary energy. The 5 passes of Uranus/Saturn end this summer.
As in the Presidential election, the movement is to be liberated from the old ways that have lost their “lifeblood”, and to bring in fresh new ways. The recent elections have kept up this theme, although not usually toward the side of the democrats.
Republican Scott Brown was elected Senator of Massachusetts, filling the seat left open by the death of long time senator Ted Kennedy, a member of the American royal family of Kennedy. This was a huge upset, and has been followed this past week by the upset primary win of libertarian leaning Rand Paul, Ron Paul’s son in Kentucky; and the upset loss of Arlen Spector, long time senator of Pennsylvania.
The rise of the Tea Party movement in America is part of this shift. Though many of the Tea Party members are motivated largely by hate and narrow mindedness, this “party” is part of the transformation of American politics now. American citizens apparently are wanting big change outside the traditional political boxes. They are tired of business as usual. In my estimation, there is revolutionary energy growing toward giving the power of our country to the people, which was the vision of the founders of this country.
And as is being seen in Thailand, with the riots of the people there against their corrupt government, this revolution of the people is against the heavy constraints of old world wide economic and military structures that benefit the few, not the vast majority of peoples of the world.
And people are also getting more fed up with many other old ways that do not serve the people, do not serve our environment, our sacred Earth and its creatures. The recent oil spill is a horrible disaster. It cannot be allowed to happen again. We have known for many, many years that we need alternative sources of energy. And yet we continue to be reliant on foreign oil, which keeps putting us into new wars and killing more people. And we continue to drill for oil off our shores, which created this recent disaster, and will create more if we do not decide to STOP DRILLING.
The ending of old ways and the creation of new ways is also shown in other astrological aspects coming now. Keep in mind all these aspects have greater influence than they normally would because we are on the cusp of an Aquarian Age and near the Mayan Calendar New World date of 2012.
This coming week shows us Uranus moving into Aries. It has not been in Aries since 1927-1935, a time of changing fortunes in the American economy as the Depression broke the bubble of roaring ’20s euphoria. This was also a time of other great and revolutionary changes in the USA and world.
At the beginning of Uranus in Aries in 1927-1928, as we are now about to experience, there were many new ideas that were manifested. Remember that Uranus is radical change, and Aries is the first breath of springtime, a sign of new beginnings. Uranus works well in Aries to bring big change. New ideas instituted in 1927-28 included the first talking movie, the Jazz Singer; Lindbergh with the first solo flight across the Atlantic; penicillin discovered; and even bubble gum invented.
As we are in the throes of Age shifting, we can expect bigger new beginings now. New information about our human origins is on the way. The old creationism versus evolution discussion is still alive, but will become obsolete as new information is discovered. We have human roots in the “heavens”, from the “stars”, and will learn more as time goes by during the Uranus in Aries years, 2010-2018. These years will deliver us into the Aquarian Age. Much change is afoot, and our overall Paradigm will change drastically.
Uranus moves into Aries this week Thursday May 27, on the same day as the full Moon in Gemini/Sagittarius. Pay close attention to world events that day to get a “feel” for what is coming during the time of Uranus in Aries, 2010-2018. Watch what is developing in your own life that day to get in touch with what new trends may be developing for you.
This Full Moon in Gemini/Sagittarius will be at 7:07 PM EDT and 4:07 PM PDT on May 27. This Sagittarius Full Moon is usually very lively and animated. It is not too difficult to get carried away in conversations around this full Moon. Some have to watch from being overly excited at this Full Moon. Look for meaning in all you do now, and realize everything happens for a reason. This attitude can help you find more faith in life.
Jupiter makes opposition to Saturn this week also. This marks the half way point of the 20 year Jupiter/Saturn cycle, which began at their conjunction in Taurus in 2000. Jupiter/Saturn cycles always promise a “changing of the guard” in our culture. George Bush was elected the year of the conjunction and his presidency significantly changed our American and world culture. We are now experiencing, with the aforementioned political shifts, a new “changing of the guard”. More cultural changes are on the way.
After Jupiter moves past this pass of Jupiter opposite Saturn, it moves into Aries on June 5, and then will intensify Uranus in Aries when it makes conjunction with Uranus in Aries on June 8. We will talk more about this in the next few weeks, but it promises to add more spark to the coming changes and new beginnings.
In your personal life, get ready for new beginnings. This will be especially true if you are born in the early days of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. This corresponds to late March, late June, late September, and late December. For those people big change will occur over the next few years. Of course you could have other planets in early Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, and could be born at any time of year to then be part of these big changes.
The approaching Lunar Eclipse Grand Cross in Cancer/Capricorn also affects all the early degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.
For all of us it is a time to expect more changes in the world, including a transformation of our economic system, more natural and man-made disasters. War cries will get stronger this year also. Be most aware of what is transpiring in the Middle East and in Korea.
Though we can expect our Old World to go through deep and sometimes horrible pain, there are also many wonderful and beautiful events on our collective horizon. This process is reflective of the labor pains leading us to a new birth into an Aquarian Age.
Let go of your attachment to the old ways, to the old structures of your personal world. Do not hold on too tigthly to anything. Be flexible. And know that the release of the old will bring you much liberation and freedom, an opening of your heart and soul again.
You do not need that job that oppresses you and makes you feel your life is in servitude to something that holds no meaning for you. You will be better off to get out of that relationship that has kept your heart in chains because of poor communication, little emotional connection, and lack of mutual respect. You do not need to stay in a home or living situation that is miserable for you. Keeping what is merely familiar to you will not make you happy. You do not want to look back at your life when you get very old, and regret a life wasted.
Open your wings and get ready to fly.
See you next Saturday
